皇家隊王建民台北時間4日對國民隊之戰，9局上登板，投12球（9好球）解決國民隊3名打者，其中投3球三振「強打少年」Bryce Harper，更是精采，此戰皇家9局下靠著Lorenzo Cain的再見安打，以7比6逆轉勝國民，建仔等了快3年，終於等到重返大聯盟的第1勝，防禦率也降到3.24。
王建民上次在大聯盟贏得勝投，已是2013年6月16日的事了，當時建仔效力藍鳥隊，對遊騎兵隊先發7局被擊出7支安打沒失分，終場藍鳥7比2贏球，建仔拿到勝投。
隔了3年，今年王建民重返大聯盟，此戰是王建民本季第7次登板，9局上皇家隊4比6落後，建仔先三振掉國民隊Anthony Rendón，接下來力拚Harper，王建民只投3球，其中第3球球速是94哩（約151公里），三振掉Harper，最後再讓Ryan Zimmerman打出游擊方向滾地球，封殺，用12球讓國民隊三上三下，表現相當精采，而建仔近3戰登板，都沒失分。
9局下皇家隊面對國民隊「守護神」Jonathan Papelbon的投球，積極反攻，靠著連續5支安打，最後由Lorenzo Cain擊出再見安打，7比6擊敗國民，王建民贏得勝投。
